Terms of Use
Effective date: January 1, 2026. By using MyDataTools.ca, you agree to these terms.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use govern your use of MyDataTools.ca (the "Site") and the tools and services provided on it (the "Tools"). The Site is operated by MyWaypoint Technologies Inc. ("we", "us", "our"), a corporation under the laws of Canada.
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
2. Free tools — no warranty
The Tools are provided free of charge on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of results.
Tool outputs — including data quality scores, validation results, PII findings, postal code data, and geocoding results — are provided for informational purposes only. They should not be relied upon as authoritative or complete. You are responsible for verifying results before making decisions based on them.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Tools only for lawful purposes. You may not use the Site or Tools to:
- Process data in violation of applicable law, including privacy legislation
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the Site's technical infrastructure
- Engage in automated scraping, crawling, or excessive automated requests
- Upload or process data to which you do not have lawful access or rights
- Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the Tools without permission
4. Privacy and data
All file-based Tools process data locally in your browser. We do not receive, store, or access the data you process. You are responsible for ensuring that any data you process using these Tools is handled in compliance with applicable privacy laws (including PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation).
The PII Scanner tool uses pattern matching to identify potential personal information. Results are indicative only and do not constitute legal advice or a compliance assessment.
5. Address Geocoder — third-party service
The Address Geocoder sends queries from your browser directly to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service. Use of this tool is subject to Nominatim's usage policy. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behaviour of the Nominatim service.
6. Intellectual property
The Site content, design, and code are the property of MyWaypoint Technologies Inc. The Tools are provided for personal and organizational use. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission, except as permitted by applicable copyright law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MyWaypoint Technologies Inc. will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or Tools. This includes but is not limited to damages arising from data loss, incorrect results, or reliance on tool outputs.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
